OMG, dudes, if you haven’t been to Villa Wellington, you are clearly some kind of miscreant who hates life and all the deliciousness it has to offer!
Hyperbole aside, Villa Wellington is fantastically great. Peruvian food at mega-low-low prices; can you really go wrong?
The answer is: you can’t. The husband and I love this place, even though most of the staff only speaks French and/or Spanish and we only speak English. We communicate by pointing and gesturing and smiling. They provide us with delicious meat and potatoes dishes, like the Coriander Chicken (or Beef; both are excellent), which is like a Peruvian stew featuring chicken, potatoes, peas and carrots in an amazing cilantro-y sauce. I can’t remember the name of the other dish we order, but it’s some variation on the theme with a heaping helping of white beans on the side. Yum!
The portions here are huge, the plates that we’ve tried have all been delicious, and even when we got a crazy overpriced wine (which, btw, you couldn’t get at the SAQ) that one time, it was still totally worth it. If you have room after their homemade bread, calamari with hot sauce and ginormous entrees, you should definitely get a crème caramel or flan for dessert. Perfection.
Everytime we pass Villa Wellington, the place smells amazing, like meat smoking away. It always makes my mouth water, and reminds me of our first date there. Unbelievable. You’ve gotta try it!
